Neogen Plasma

Neogen Plasma Evo by Energist is a medical-grade Plasma Skin Regeneration (PSR) system. Inside the handpiece, ultra-high-frequency energy is applied to medical-grade nitrogen gas, ionising it into plasma, the fourth state of matter. The plasma is delivered to the skin in precisely controlled pulses of around 15 milliseconds, releasing its energy as heat on contact. Nitrogen is used because it displaces oxygen at the skin’s surface, avoiding the charring and uneven hot spots seen with other energy sources.

This heat has two effects. At the surface, it causes immediate contraction of the tissue. Deeper in the dermis, it creates a controlled thermal effect that activates fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, starting a regenerative process that continues for months after treatment.

Unlike ablative lasers such as CO2, Neogen does not vaporise the skin’s surface. The treated outer layer stays intact and acts as a natural biological dressing while new skin forms beneath it, then sheds naturally. And unlike fractional devices, which treat the skin in tiny columns with untreated skin in between, Neogen treats the whole surface evenly in a single pass.

It is a completely different device from the “plasma pens” sold in the beauty market.

2. The treatment:
   • Every treatment begins with a consultation and skin assessment, and the energy level is chosen for your skin and goals.
   • The handpiece is passed methodically over the treatment area, delivering controlled plasma pulses.
   • Treatment takes 20–60 minutes depending on the area, and most patients describe a warm sensation.

3. Recovery:
   • Straight afterwards the skin looks pink and feels warm, similar to mild sunburn.
   • Lower-energy treatments typically mean 2–5 days of minimal social downtime; higher-energy treatments need 7–10 days to heal.
   • Daily SPF 50 is essential, and we advise not booking within two weeks of a big event.

4. Results:
   • Some tightening can be seen straight away, and the skin continues to improve over the following months as new collagen forms.
   • Tissue studies have shown collagen remodelling continuing for up to 18–24 months after treatment.
   • A course of three treatments, one month apart, gives the best results.

5. Clinical background:
   • A published study reported a mean 22% improvement in upper eyelid tightening (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2008).
